The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on the elimination of the fire on the ship Beks Force, burning off the coast of Nakhodka
According to Rosmorrechflot, rescuers on "Svetlomore-3", "Bay" and "Finvale" went to the emergency vessel. Prior to their arrival, the tugboat "Alexander Kozitsyn" from Nakhodka (Vostochny Port) coordinated the operation on the spot.
"At 10.35 Moscow time, the tugboat "Alexander Kozitsyn" finished supplying water to the tank (Beks Force vessel - ed.) for an emergency fire pump and moved away from the side, lay down to drift waiting for orders. According to information from the captain (Beks Force – ed.), separate fires were found in the engine room as a result of the inspection. At 11.00 Moscow time, according to information from the captain, the fire was extinguished, the smoke of the engine room remains. They do not need the help of rescuers, the evacuation of the crew is not required," Rosmorrechflot reported.
According to the ship's agent, the captain of the emergency vessel refused further assistance and security. "At 11.36 Moscow time, the search and rescue operation was declared completed. Rescue vessels have been given the command to return to their bases," Rosmorrechflot added.
Earlier on Friday, a source told RIA Novosti that the Beks Force vessel under the flag of the Marshall Islands is burning 25 miles from Nakhodka, two crew members were injured, passing vessels were sent to the disaster area.
According to GUMCHS, the fire started on the ship 85 kilometers south of Nakhodka, when it was going from China to the port of Vostochny. The crew refused to evacuate, the ship is afloat.
The Russian Seafarers' Union RIA Novosti reported that the fire occurred in the engine room. According to the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office, the crew members are citizens of the Philippines and Turkey. A source in the region's law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti that both victims were Filipinos.
