OREANDA-NEWS   The American corporation Meta Platforms (recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) will dismiss more than 11 thousand employees, which is equivalent to about 13 percent of the total number of staff. Details of the company's plan were shared by its head Mark Zuckerberg. This became known from a press release on the Meta website. The company is also extending the moratorium on hiring new staff until the first quarter of next year.

The founder of Meta stated that he takes responsibility for the decision, and he is "especially sorry for those who were affected by it." He thanked the employees for their contribution to the work of the corporation and listed a number of measures to support the dismissed employees. Zuckerberg admitted that the company could not cope with the sharply increased costs after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to the rapid transition of the world to online. The Corporation significantly increased its investments in new remote formats, but the revenues were much lower than expected.
