OREANDA-NEWS. The Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that countries not require proof of vaccination for international travel, and also consider measures to facilitate travel, for example, by lifting quarantines and testing.

"Do not require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for international travel as the only route or condition to allow international travel, given the limited global access and unfair distribution of COVID-19 vaccines," said the WHO country guidelines issued following the Committee meeting from July, 14.

The organization's committee also recommended that States consider a risk-based approach to facilitate international travel by removing measures such as testing or quarantine requirements, where appropriate.

Earlier, the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that, given the increase in the number of new infections with coronavirus in the world, we can say that the planet is at the beginning of the third wave of COVID-19 incidence.

According to him, the situation is aggravated by the active spread of the COVID-19 delta strain, which is "fueled by the increased movement of people."

Gebreyesus noted that some time ago, as a result of vaccinations in Europe and North America, there was a decrease in infections and deaths from coronavirus, but now the situation has changed for the worse again.

WHO intends on July 15 to offer updated guidelines to counter the spread of coronavirus infection.

On the eve of radio Sputnik reported that the Kremlin allowed the introduction of "no alternative measures" to combat the pandemic.
