OREANDA-NEWS. Ten combat reconnaissance patrol vehicles of the BRDM-2 were delivered from Russia to Serbia in accordance with all the norms of international law. This was announced on Monday by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in response to a question about the obstacles to the supply of equipment from Romania.
"As for your question, I wouldn't like to talk about it. Now the most important thing is that we, respecting the norms of international law, in accordance with the contractual obligations of Serbia and Russia, were able to deliver cars to the territory of Serbia. How and where they came from is our problem isn't an attempt to avoid an answer, it's in line with the law and agreement of Russia and Serbia", the Serbian leader said. Earlier, bypassing the armored cars during the ceremony of transferring equipment, Vucic said: “We were prevented from using the Danube by air".
Vucic said that the Russian deliveries of Serbian military equipment significantly increased the combat readiness of the Serbian armed forces and thanked the Russian people, President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu for donating armored cars.
On Friday, the Romanian television channel Digi 24 reported that the Romanian authorities had detained Russian transport with 30 tanks and 30 armored personnel carriers on the Danube, sent on the basis of a contract between Belgrade and Moscow to Serbia. According to the channel, the equipment was confiscated. The Russian Defense Ministry called the message "absolute lie", stressing that the Russian Defense Ministry didn't send any ships to transport military equipment along the Danube. The Defense Ministry noted that the military products of Russia had already been delivered to Serbia in accordance with the terms specified in the contract.
