OREANDA-NEWS. The appointed European Commissioner, Ursula von der Leyen, has agreed to change the controversial title of the European Commissioner for Immigration and the Protection of the European Lifestyle, to which Greek Margaritis Skinas is appointed. This was reported by the faction of the Socialists of the European Parliament in a media report distributed on Wednesday. The new European Commission, under the leadership of von der Leyen, is due to take office on December 1.

"The appointed chairman, von der Leyen, has agreed to change the name of the post of European Commissioner for Immigration and the Protection of the European Lifestyle", the statement said. In turn, the representative of the European Commission at a briefing in Brussels could not confirm that this decision has already been made, but noted that "a discussion with the European Parliament was held on this topic".

The title of the post of Margaritis Skinas in the new composition of the European Commission caused a surge of criticism in European and foreign media, as it suggests thoughts of propaganda and censorship. “Naturally, we are conducting a careful selection of words on the issue of job titles. It's exclusively about the positive promotion of European values”, the EC representative said in this regard.
