US Senate Approves Hong Kong Human Rights Sanctions Law
In October, the House of Representatives adopted its version of this document. Now the houses of Congress will have to agree on the final text of the bill, after which it will have to be signed by US President Donald Trump.
Once again, the situation on the streets of Hong Kong escalated on November 15, after police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, which killed a student at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology who participated in the protests. On November 17, police threatened to use military weapons if protesters didn't stop the violence and unlawful acts. Two days later, the State Council of China replaced the chief of police in Hong Kong.
