OREANDA-NEWS  Turkish small businesses exporting to Russia found themselves in a very difficult situation due to US sanctions pressure on the banking sector, businessmen were caught off guard, Turkish analyst Engin Ozer told RIA Novosti.

Turkish banks are under increased pressure from the United States due to transactions with Russia and regularly receive warnings about the need for strict control of the sources of funds transferred, an informed source in the local financial market told RIA Novosti earlier. Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexey Yerkhov, in turn, told RIA Novosti that cases of "squeezing out" companies involved in the transit of goods to Russia have become more frequent in Turkish banks, there are cases of blocking transfers and closing accounts.

"It is known that due to US sanctions, Turkish state banks do not accept money transfers from Russia. The decision on sanctions primarily affected Turkish industrialists, the automotive industry, manufacturers of building materials, as well as producers of vegetables and fruits exporting to Russia," the analyst said.

"He (the business) was caught off guard because the issue of non-cash payment was suddenly put into effect. After very clear statements by the president (of Turkey, Tayyip - ed.) Erdogan about not participating in anti-Russian sanctions, exporters did not believe that such a decision would be made, but they were mistaken," the agency interlocutor stressed.
Turkish exporters are suffering from US sanctions pressure, exports in the field of electronics, metallurgy and automotive industry have decreased by 30%, analyst Serhat Latifoglu told RIA Novosti on Monday.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan earlier expressed confidence that the lifting of Western sanctions against Russia would be on the agenda of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, if they could be restarted.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to strengthen. Moscow noted that the West does not have the courage to admit the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. There have been opinions in Western countries themselves that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
