This is stated on the website of the US Department of Justice. According to the statement, the Russians are accused of “electronic fraud”, fraud using devices to access data, conspiracy to commit fraudulent activities, hacking computer systems, theft of personal data and money laundering. “If he is found guilty on all counts, he will face a maximum of 80 years in prison”, the Justice Ministry said in a statement.

According to court documents, Burkov was the administrator of the Cardplanet website, where credit and debit card data stolen mainly through hacking was sold. It is noted that many of them belonged to US citizens. According to documents, using the stolen data that was sold on Burkov’s website, attackers made purchases of more than $ 20 million.

The Justice Ministry notes that the Russian, presumably, owned another site, access to which was provided by invitation. There, hackers could, for example, “advertise” stolen personal data or virus programs, as well as offer hacking or money laundering services. According to the statement, one who wants to become a member of the club needs to receive good recommendations from the three people already in it and pay a fee of $ 5 thousand.
