OREANDA-NEWS. The US administration is considering the lifting of sanitary restrictions imposed in the United States on May 1 due to the spread of the new coronavirus. This was confirmed on Monday at a briefing for journalists in the White House by US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin.

Answering a question about whether May 1 is the date of lifting restrictions, he confirmed that such an opportunity is being studied by US President Donald Trump. "I had discussions with the president about this issue. I know that he is considering this. I believe that he will make a decision later", said the head of the US Treasury.

In turn, Trump, who also participated in the briefing, emphasized that “everything should be safe”, that is, when deciding on the abolition of restrictions, it will be necessary to be guided primarily by considerations of saving lives, and not minimizing damage to the economy. He also noted that in a number of regions of the United States the epidemic situation does not cause absolutely no alarm, despite the outbreak of a new coronavirus.
