Unique ancient Roman coin put up for auction

The coin, minted during the brief reign of Aulus Vitellius, was discovered by an amateur treasure hunter who explored a field near the town of Kingswinford, West Midlands, in May 2024. He gave the find to the experts of the British Museum for examination, who confirmed its value, but eventually returned it.
Now the treasure hunter has put it up for auction, which will be held on March 27. Mark Hannam, a representative of the auction house, said that the coin of the 1st century is unique to the UK, as Roman coins of the 3rd-4th centuries AD are usually found there. The expert stated that its price could range from three to six thousand pounds (from 337 to 675 thousand rubles).
