OREANDA-NEWS The Moscow Arbitration Court has terminated proceedings on the claim of the British Unilever Global IP Limited, filed by it in defense of its trademarks – verbal Domestos and five volumetric plastic bottles of original shape in different colors, in which this popular cleaning product was sold, follows from the published court ruling.
The case was dismissed due to the refusal of the British company from the claim. The defendants in it were the St. Petersburg LLC "Spectrum", engaged in the production of household chemicals, and the Moscow LLC "Era of Aquarius Company", which produces plastic containers. The plaintiff asked to collect 5 million rubles of compensation from the co-defendants. The reasons for the refusal of the claim are not disclosed in the court materials.
In the catalog of products of Spectrum LLC, presented on the company's website, there is Domproff liquid detergent in a plastic bottle, which is similar in label and shape to the packaging of the plaintiff's Domestos.
Unilever was founded in 1930 as a result of the merger of the Dutch Margarine Uni and the British Lever Brothers. Currently, its portfolio includes approximately 400 brands represented in the markets of 170 countries. Among them are Lux, OMO, Signal, Impulse, Sunsilk, Timotei, Denim, Delmy, Dove, Rexona, Axe, Domestos, Knorr and a number of others.
In March 2022, Unilever announced the suspension of exports of its products to and from Russia, as well as the cessation of investments in the country and spending on media and advertising. In July 2023, Irina Antyushina, Director of Corporate relations and Sustainable development at Unilever in Russia and Belarus, told RIA Novosti that the factories and offices of this manufacturer of consumer goods in Russia continue to work to ensure the domestic market of the country.
