UN, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq Invited by Observers to Syria Talks in Nur Sultan

OREANDA-NEWS. The Syrian negotiators in Nur Sultan invited representatives of the UN, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq as observers. This was announced by the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aybek Smadiyarov at a briefing on Monday.
“On December 10-11, Nur Sultan will host the 14th international high-level meeting on Syria in Astana format. It will be attended by delegations of guarantor countries: Iran, Russia and Turkey, the Syrian government and the Syrian armed opposition. As observers high representatives of the UN, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq will take part", said Smadiyarov.
According to him, the agenda of the meeting in Nur Sultan includes the issue of advancing the political process in Syria in light of the start of the work of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva. "The following issues will be included on the agenda: the situation in Syria with a focus on Zaevfrat and Idlib, confidence-building measures, including the release of hostages and the search for missing persons, the intensification of comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Syria in the context of the return of refugees and internally displaced persons".
