OREANDA-NEWS. Saudi Arabia is guilty of the murder of Saudi opposition journalist Jamal Hashqudji in Turkey. This is stated in the report of the Special Rapporteur of the UN Human Rights Council on extrajudicial executions Agnes Calamar, reports the American media. She concluded that the journalist was the victim of a deliberate extrajudicial execution. According to her, there is strong evidence of the involvement of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and other high-ranking officials in the incident. At the same time, additional investigation is required in the matter of individual responsibility of each of them, according to Kalamar.
Kalamar called on Western countries to extend the sanctions and include the Crown Prince and his personal assets. She believes that Mohammed bin Salman should be on the black list until she proves that she is not responsible for the massacre. She also called for an end to the trial in Saudi Arabia of 11 suspects in this case.
It's noted that the report was sent to the Saudi side in advance, but there was no reaction from it. Earlier, Riyadh has repeatedly denied the involvement of the Crown Prince in the murder. Khashkudzhi, who lived in the United States, who was investigating corruption in Saudi Arabia, disappeared on October 2, 2018 in the territory of the Saudi consulate in Turkey. Authorities acknowledged the death of a journalist only 18 days after his death.
According to the Turkish side, the journalist was tortured, strangled, and then dismembered his body. The investigation also revealed that at least some of the perpetrators are associated with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Foreign Minister assured that the crown prince, with whom 15 suspects in the murder were linked, was not aware of the operation.
