OREANDA-NEWS. The Kremlin regrets that several million Ukrainians living in Russia are deprived of the opportunity to vote in the upcoming presidential elections, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

"One can only express regret that there are several millions of Ukrainians who live in our country, and they are deprived of the right to vote. There are also several millions of Ukrainians who are rejected in their own country. These are facts that are hard to deny and which are, unfortunately, the sad reality that they are", said Peskov, speaking of the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine.

The Kremlin does not intend to assess the election campaign in Ukraine, stated Dmitry Peskov, answering the Russian media questions.

“It’s not our business to evaluate the election campaign”, he said. “This is the business of Ukrainians.”

Peskov added that the recognition or non-recognition of the election results in Ukraine in Moscow will depend on how they pass.

“I would leave without comment the question on whether recognition of the illegitimate election results in Ukraine is possible,” he said. “This will also depend on how the elections are held. We cannot talk about this while the elections have not yet taken place." A Kremlin spokesman reminded that there will be no Russian observers at Ukrainian elections.

The first round of presidential elections in Ukraine is scheduled for March 31. In the list of applicants there are 38 candidates. Showman Vladimir Zelensky, the leader of the “Servant of the People” is getting from 26% to 28%, remaining the leader of sympathies during the election campaign. The second line, which Yulia Timoshenko confidently occupied earlier, is being challenged by the current president, Pyotr Poroshenko - they have 17% each.
