Ukrainian President Said There Is No Threat to People in the Chernobyl Zone
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video message that the situation with a forest fire in the exclusion zone near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is completely taken under control. According to him, there is no threat to people.
“The situation is controlled, the radiation background in the capital and the Kiev Region is normal,” the head of state assured.
Zelensky specified that six fire sites in the exclusion zone had been eliminated the day before. “There is no open fire. The police have already detained those who will be held accountable,” the politician said. The President recalled that such violations are punished with a large fine or imprisonment.
