OREANDA-NEWS. The speaker of the delegation from Kiev to the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass and adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president's office Alexey Arestovich said on the air of the Internet channel Politeka that Ukaina would intend to organize sabotage on the territory of the Russian Federation only if a full-scale war breaks out between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Arestovich, Kiev has 3 reasons for this. The first is that it is not profitable to organize terrorist attacks in peacetime, since the Russians will quickly restore everything that the terrorists destroy. The second reason is that in this case Ukraine will be able to obtain the status of a state that resorts to terrorist and sabotage methods of warfare. Third, at the moment it is difficult to assess and say whether Kiev has such opportunities now.

"Chopping electricity and gas on Russian territory is a measure that will be used, I think, when there is a big war, but now it’s too fragile a balance, and it’s definitely not in our interests to start escalation now," Arestovich justified the strategy.

Earlier, Arestovich said that the Ukrainian leadership is working on different scenarios for the return of Donbass under its control, not excluding the use of force if the opportunity arises. According to the official, the country's priority is a politico-diplomatic settlement of the situation, but it is already preparing for an offensive in case of illness of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
