OREANDA-NEWS   Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Thursday signed a decree imposing sanctions against 20 representatives of the Georgian authorities, Georgian media reported, citing sources in Kiev.

The sanctions list includes honorary chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze, Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and others. The list also included the father of the Prime Minister, Giorgi Kobakhidze, who served as Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament in the 90s.

Zelensky called on his Western partners to also impose sanctions against the leaders of Georgia, since, according to him, "no one can be lost in this region - neither Georgia, nor Moldova, nor Ukraine."

Earlier, the Baltic countries imposed sanctions against a number of Georgian leaders, in connection with which their ambassadors in Tbilisi were summoned to the Georgian Foreign Ministry for clarification.

The day before, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken condemned the Georgian authorities for violence against protesters against the suspension of European integration and threatened Tbilisi with a tougher sanctions regime.
