Ukraine Demanded an Emergency Meeting of the UN Security Council

Today at 22:00 Moscow time, an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council will begin, at which the presidential decree of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will be discussed on simplifying the issue of Russian citizenship to residents of the LC and the DPR. From the point of view of the Ukrainian authorities, the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the simplified citizenship of the citizens of the republics of Donbass contradicts the UN Charter and resolution 2202 approving a set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements.
Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin called Putin’s decree on accelerated receipt of Russian passports by residents of Donbass with a breath of air. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin accused Moscow of "continuing the aggression" and interfering in Ukrainian internal affairs. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin urged residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) not to receive Russian passports. Also, Putin’s decree was condemned by American and French ambassadors in Ukraine.
The armed conflict in the Donbas has been going on since 2014, when the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR.
