OREANDA-NEWS. Today at 22:00 Moscow time, an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council will begin, at which the presidential decree of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will be discussed on simplifying the issue of Russian citizenship to residents of the LC and the DPR. The emergency meeting will begin at 10:00 pm Kyiv time (coincides with Moscow time) in New York, he specified and expressed his gratitude to the German delegation, which currently heads the UN Security Council, for the prompt response to the Kiev request. From the point of view of the Ukrainian authorities, the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the simplified citizenship of the citizens of the republics of Donbass contradicts the UN Charter and resolution 2202 approving a set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements.

Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin called Putin’s decree on accelerated receipt of Russian passports by residents of Donbass with a breath of air. The armed conflict in the Donbas has been going on since 2014, when the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR. According to the latest UN data, as a result of this conflict, about 13 thousand people became victims. Russia declares its non-participation in the internal Ukrainian conflict.
