OREANDA-NEWS. The UK has expanded the sanctions list for Belarus and Russia in connection with the events in Ukraine. Another 59 individuals and organizations from Russia fell under the sanctions, including Gazprombank, Rosselkhozbank, Alfa-Bank, Sovcomflot, RusHydro, Russian Railways and the head of Tinkoff Bank Oleg Tinkov, RIA Novosti reports.
The list also included the head of Sberbank German Gref and the former first deputy chairman of Sberbank Lev Khasis. The sanctions involve freezing the assets of these individuals in the UK and a ban on entry into the country. According to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Western countries also intend to impose sanctions against Wagner PMCs.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said earlier that more than a thousand citizens of the Russian Federation and Russian enterprises are currently under sanctions. According to her, Western countries, by their actions, intend to deprive the Russian government of funding. The head of the Foreign Ministry shared her opinion that the Russian economy "has already been seriously affected" as a result of the "pressure" of the G7.
Currently, Russia is conducting a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced its beginning in a televised address.
