OREANDA-NEWS American journalist Tucker Carlson, in an interview with the special envoy of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff, revealed the unexpected reason why he decided to come to Russia in 2024. A recording of the conversation was posted on the journalist's YouTube channel.
Commenting on Witkoff's words that former US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin had not spoken for three and a half years, Carlson assured that it was impossible to resolve the conflict without conversations. The journalist also stated that the purpose of his trip to Russia was to promote dialogue and prevent a possible escalation of events.
"That's why I came there last year, because I thought we were approaching a nuclear war. And I just thought: if no one is talking to Putin, at least someone should broadcast his views to the world, otherwise we may have a war. That's how I thought," the journalist said and laughed.
Carlson visited Moscow in February 2024. He recorded an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and also visited Auchan and the Yummy fast food restaurant, period. He said that products in Moscow cost four times less than in the United States.
