OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump said that he would listen to compromising information from Russia and China on competitors in the upcoming election race in 2020 and would pass it to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). It is reported by ABC News. The journalist asked what actions Trump's headquarters would take if representatives of Russia or China offered him compromising opponents: would they listen to them or report them to the FBI. “I think it may be worth doing both this and that”, the head of state replied. In his opinion, this isn't interference in elections.
The next US presidential election is scheduled for November 3, 2020. In addition to Trump, who has held this post since 2017, among the main candidates that have appeared are Democrat politician Joseph Biden, former governor of Massachusetts William Weld, senator from New Jersey Corey Booker, junior senator from New York State Kirsten Gillibrand, writer Marianna Williamson.
Back in May, Special Prosecutor Muller made a public statement on the results of his investigation about Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election in the United States. The expert noted that he had studied not only the links of the current president with the Russian side, but also his attempts to thwart the investigation. Müller said that he could not press charges against the American president, since, in accordance with the Constitution, the current head of state can't be held criminally liable. At the end of his speech, he announced his resignation.
April 18 was published the full text of the Muller report. According to his conclusions, Moscow influenced the elections - in particular, the Russian State Intelligence Agency transferred to WikiLeaks the materials of the US Democratic Party, but it wasn't possible to find evidence to support the fact of cooperation with Russia.
