OREANDA-NEWS US President Donald Trump said that he had several informal conversations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The head of state said this in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

"You know, I spoke with Putin — it's not just the call that started it all. We had other calls. This has not been made public before, but it is a continuation of the positive dialogue. If it wasn't positive, I would have told you," the American leader said.

In addition, Trump praised the conversation with Putin and stressed that it "can serve as the beginning of something good."

Earlier, Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation, during which they agreed to normalize relations between Russia and the United States. In particular, they discussed the possibility of mutually beneficial cooperation in the economy and energy sector.
