OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump signed an executive decree providing for the complete blocking of the property of the Venezuelan government in American jurisdiction and a ban on any provision of financial resources, goods and services to it. The text of the decree was distributed on Monday by the press service of the White House.
"I came to the conclusion that it's necessary to block the property of the Venezuelan government in light of the continued usurpation of power by the illegitimate regime of the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro", - said in a letter to the President of the Congress.
We are talking about "all the property and property interests of the Venezuelan government, which are in the United States, in the future will be in the United States, are currently or will be owned or controlled by any person from the United States". They are “blocked and can't be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn from accounts, and no other actions can be performed with them”, the decree says. It's noted that it entered into force on August 5.
The assets of all departments of the government of the Latin American country, as well as the Central Bank of Venezuela and the state oil company PDVSA, are subject to blocking, the document states. In addition, sanctions apply to all “persons subordinate or under control, either directly or indirectly, of the above departments and organizations”, as well as all who “act or intend to act directly or indirectly in the interests or on behalf of those listed above departments and organizations", the text emphasizes.
As the American newspaper notes, Trump’s decree actually means “imposing a complete economic embargo” against Venezuela. Earlier, the President of the United States answered in the affirmative to the question of journalists about whether the American authorities are considering the possibility of blocking and isolating the Bolivarian Republic, given the amount of foreign aid that Caracas receives from Moscow, Tehran and Beijing.
