OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump assured that he wouldn't allow the use of the half-brother of DPRK leader Kim Jong-un as an informant for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). "I saw information about the CIA in relation to his brother or stepbrother. And I would tell him that this wouldn't have happened under my leadership, that's for sure. I wouldn't allow this to happen", he told reporters on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, reported that the half-brother of DPRK leader Kim Jong Nam, who was killed in 2017 in a Malaysian airport, was an informant for special services and made several meetings with CIA representatives. According to the newspaper, Kim Jong Nam went to Malaysia in February 2017 to meet with his contact person from the CIA. In addition, it is noted that he spent several days on the resort island of Langkawi, where he met with an unidentified man of Korean-American origin, as reported by the police during a trial of women accused of the murder of Kim Jong-un.

On Wednesday, the newspaper, citing sources, reported that Kim Jong Nam was in contact with the security services of several countries, including South Korea, China and Japan. According to the newspaper, the brother of the leader of the DPRK tried to improve relations with the special services in order to protect his family if it would be in danger, and to get financial gain.

Kim Jong Nam, the brother of the current leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, died at Kuala Lumpur Airport on February 13, 2017. Police found traces of the nerve agent VX, banned by the International Chemical Weapons Convention, on his skin. The deceased had a diplomatic passport in the name of Kim Chol, while South Korea claimed from the very beginning that the victim was the elder half-brother of the DPRK leader. This was later confirmed during the examination.
