OREANDA-NEWS The United States will stop supplying weapons to Israel if the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is not resolved by mid-November, Israeli television Channel 12 reported, citing a letter from American officials.

"The United States has sent a clear message to Israel that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip must be resolved within a month so that the arms embargo is not imposed. Senior U.S. officials — Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin — yesterday handed Ministers Ron Dermer and Yoav Galant a document outlining this requirement," the statement said.

The American administration is concerned about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave, and Washington demands urgent measures to change this. According to American services, in September, the fewest humanitarian supplies were sent to Gaza since March.

The statement was made against the background of the recent decision by the United States to deploy a battery of THAAD high-altitude and trans-atmospheric interception missile systems in Israel, which will be controlled by the American military. The THAAD complex is an atmospheric interceptor of ballistic missiles, which should help Israel more successfully repel possible attacks from Iran.

Israel has been repeatedly accused of obstructing the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip. In turn, the Jewish state denies this and publishes reports according to which more than 900 thousand tons of humanitarian aid were imported into the territory of the Palestinian enclave in less than a year.

After an unprecedented attack from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the Israeli army launched the military operation "Iron Swords". The enclave was completely blockaded: supplies of water, electricity, fuel, food and medicines were stopped. The Gaza Strip has actually been divided into southern and northern parts, and Israel is conducting a ground operation in Rafah, which is considered the last stronghold of Hamas.
