The United States increased platinum imports from Russia in June

OREANDA-NEWS In June, the United States increased platinum imports from Russia by 17% in monetary terms compared to May, to the highest since September last year, RIA Novosti found out after examining data from the American statistical service.
Thus, the volume of platinum imports to the United States from Russia by the end of June 2024 increased by 17% by May to 104.2 million dollars. This was the highest monthly value since September 2023, when $111.6 million worth of platinum was delivered.
At the same time, according to the results of the first half of the year, imports amounted to 469.6 million dollars, having decreased by almost a third compared to the same period in 2023.
In total, by the end of 2023, the United States purchased $ 1.2 billion worth of platinum from Russia.
The total volume of platinum imports by the United States in June reached $ 632.7 million. In addition to Russia, the largest volumes of purchases were in South Africa ($350.8 million), Germany (59.3 million), Belgium (29.9 million) and the United Kingdom (27.5 million).
