OREANDA-NEWS The appointment of a new Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance in the person of Mark Rutte will not change anything for Russia, since anyone in this position is aimed at confrontation with Moscow's policy. This opinion was expressed by a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States Scott Bennett, his words are transmitted by Izvestia.

"The appointment of Rutte to the post of NATO Secretary General will not change anything, he will only strengthen negative rhetoric and hostility towards Russia. I think he will try to unite the countries of Eastern Europe to open a second front against Moscow in diplomatic, economic and military matters," the retired officer said.

Bennett pointed out that the work of the new secretary General of the alliance "boils down to imposing aggression against Moscow, without caring about peace and stability." However, the expert noted that due to the successful advance of the Russian Army on the battlefield, Rutte's attempts to increase confrontation with Russia "will expose him incompetent in his new position."

Earlier, Rutte supported the strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) deep into Russia with Western long-range weapons, adding that the decision on this issue remains with each country of the bloc.
