OREANDA-NEWS The United States is capable of taking significant measures against Iran in connection with the alleged supply of short-range missiles to Russia, State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said on Monday.

"We are extremely concerned about this information. (...) We have made it clear with our G7 partners that we are ready for actions that can lead to serious consequences," he said, responding to a journalist's request to comment on media reports about Iran's possible sending of missiles to the Russian Federation.

Patel did not specify what measures he was talking about.

The day before, the representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, said that the information about Iran sending ballistic missiles to Russia does not correspond to reality and is biased. He stressed that Tehran supports a political solution to the crisis around Ukraine and the negotiation process.

Earlier on Monday, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, commented on reports by some media outlets about alleged deliveries by Tehran of a batch of short-range missiles.

"We have seen this message. Not every time this kind of information is true. Iran is our important partner. We are developing trade and economic relations. We are developing our cooperation and dialogue in all possible areas, including the most sensitive ones. And we will continue to do this in the interests of the peoples of our two countries," Peskov told reporters.
