OREANDA-NEWS  The United States has begun negotiations on obtaining soil samples extracted by China as part of the Chang'e-6 mission from the far side of the Moon, said NASA chief Bill Nelson. This is reported by Reuters.

"We are currently working on further issues," the head of the American space Agency said during the International Astronautical Congress in Milan.

Nelson added that, in his opinion, the negotiations will end "positively" and Beijing will agree to provide Washington with access to the samples.

Reuters recalls that the United States and China are the two largest space powers in the world, practically not cooperating with each other in the space field.

On June 25, a capsule with soil from the Chinese Chang'e-6 automatic interplanetary station successfully landed at the site of Siqiwanqi in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
