OREANDA-NEWS  This was announced on the night of Tuesday, June 8, by CNN website. According to eyewitnesses, the driver drove onto the sidewalk on purpose. Two women, 74 and 44 years old, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were killed. A 9-year-old boy was taken to hospital with medium severity injuries. The family emigrated from Pakistan to Canada 14 years ago.

The driver's name has already been announced. This is 20-year-old Nathaniel Veltman. After  the attack, he proceeded further, in the direction of the shopping center, where he parked his car, and was arrested there. Veltman has no criminal record, was not a member of any extremist group and, according to preliminary data, did not use anyone's help when committing a terrorist attack.

“We have evidence that this is a planned terrorist attack motivated by ethnic hatred,” the Canadian police spokesman said. "These people were killed because of their Muslim origin".

The investigation is ongoing. Veltman is expected to face charges of 4 first-degree murder and one attempted first-degree murder. Perhaps he will also be charged with terrorism.

The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was horrified by the incident: “The hatred of Muslims is worthy of contempt. Islamophobia has no place in our society. All Muslims should know: our hearts are with you".
