OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis offered Russia his mediation at a meeting at the UN.

"I met with the Swiss Foreign Minister yesterday, and he convinced me that they can, as they used to do, be intermediaries in any issue. I explained to him that the mediator should be neutral. Switzerland was previously famous not only for military neutrality, but also for neutrality in a broader sense, which allowed it to successfully host various negotiation processes," Lavrov said at a press conference.

"He said we are still ready and always at your service. But I drew his attention to the fact that they have a national security strategy that is agreed for 2024 to 2027 or 2028. It says that Switzerland is ready and interested in building European security not with Russia, but against Russia," Lavrov added.
