OREANDA-NEWS  In Yekaterinburg, a man was convicted of robbing 12 banks. About this "Tape.<url>" was informed by the prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region.

He was found guilty under Article 162 ("Robbery, with the use of an object used as a weapon, on an especially large scale") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, the convict committed 12 robberies on bank branches in the period from 2015 to 2023. The amount stolen amounted to more than 39.8 million rubles. During the attacks, he used an object similar to a pistol. Threatening violence, he forced employees of credit institutions to give money from the cash register and the vault. To disguise himself before the robbery, the criminal grew a beard, used sunglasses and a mask.

In March 2023, police officers detained the attacker, who turned out to be a local resident born in 1979.

The court sentenced him to seven years and ten months in a maximum security colony.
