The Russian State Duma Wants to Put Forward a Statement on the Non - Recognition of Elections in the Territory of Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. The State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots recommended that the lower house adopt a statement not to recognize the first results of the presidential elections in Ukraine. On Monday, the head of this council, Leonid Kalashnikov, reported this information to TASS, commenting on the preliminary results of the vote.
According to Leonid Kalashnikov: "At the Council of the Duma today we will consider a statement on non-recognition of elections. We approved it at the committee, we recommend to accept it, the case is for the Council", - said Kalashnikov.
According to the head of the State Committee, this is due to the fact that "in the first round, the entire southeast, the Donbass and those Ukrainians who live in Russia were cut off from voting". "And this is already 5 - 6 million people, that is one third of all those who voted. This is the basis for not recognizing these elections as legitimate for us", - the head of the committee stressed.
Also, in the opinion, the policy, the campaign was conducted with the use of "dirty" electoral technologies, which is a gross violation of international legal principles and norms, the statement says.
"This does not mean that we will not cooperate with the authorities or contact. But if Poroshenko will be - what cooperation can there be? He bluntly states that he will continue the course on the Russophobic line and reconquer the territories, for Russia he has long been a non-handshake", - the politician concluded.
