The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the visit of the head of the IAEA to Moscow this week

OREANDA-NEWS The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, will arrive in Moscow this week, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said. According to him, the Russian side is counting on a "deep and professional" conversation on the issue of ensuring the safety of the Zaporozhye NPP.
"The schedule has not yet been fully formed, but everything indicates that this visit will take place, and we count, as always, on a deep professional conversation with the Director General of the IAEA," Mr. Ryabkov said at a briefing (quoted by Interfax).
On January 19, Rafael Grossi met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. At the meeting, they discussed the creation of a safety zone around the Zaporozhye NPP, as well as the deployment of IAEA missions at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
The last time Mr. Grossi was in Moscow was in December 2022: he came to Moscow to meet with the head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev. On January 11, Rafael Grossi announced plans to come to Russia again.
On January 25, the IAEA experts recorded several powerful explosions in the area of the Zaporozhye NPP. However, Rosenergoatom, which controls the operation of the station, denies information about the explosions.
