OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Embassy in the Netherlands recommends that Russians refrain from traveling to Amsterdam in connection with the riots that took place there on Thursday.

"In connection with the riots that took place on November 7, the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands recommends that Russian citizens refrain from traveling to Amsterdam in the coming days, and those who are already in the city should be careful," the diplomatic mission said in a statement on the social network X.

A series of attacks on fans of the Israeli football club Maccabi took place in Amsterdam on the night of November 8 after the Europa League match against the local Ajax. According to media reports, at least ten Israelis were injured in the attacks. In addition, riots and clashes between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and police took place in different parts of Amsterdam, including at the Amsterdam Arena stadium, where the match was held, despite the mayor's ban on holding demonstrations there.

According to the latest data from the Amsterdam police, 62 people were detained as a result of the riots, five victims who had previously been hospitalized were discharged from the hospital.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schof called the attacks on Israeli fans unacceptable, noting their anti-Semitic nature. The leader of the far-right Freedom Party (PVV), which is part of the ruling coalition in the Netherlands, Geert Wilders called for the detention and deportation of those responsible. Amsterdam City Hall has stepped up security for Jewish institutions in the city in connection with the incident, and also banned demonstrations over the weekend.
