OREANDA-NEWS The number of delayed containers with cargo in the ports of the Far East has been reduced by 15 times since mid-summer - from more than 1.5 thousand to less than 100 pieces, the head of the Ministry of Regional Development Alexei Chekunkov told RIA Novosti.
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit to constantly monitor the situation with the export of containers from the ports of the Far East.
"We are doing this manually. We have created an operational headquarters together with the Ministry of Transport and Russian Railways. If, as of mid-summer, more than one and a half thousand containers were listed as problematic, which, as a rule, went towards the ports of the Far East for further delivery of life-support goods within the framework of northern delivery, supply to the regions of the Far East, then as of the last operational headquarters there were less than 100 such containers, that is, their number decreased by 15 times", - said Chekunkov.
According to him, the ministry controls the northern delivery, the delivery of fuel to the regions of the Far East, however, due to objective reasons, difficulties may arise with logistics.
"The vessel may be delayed for maintenance for various reasons. But I can assure you that we pick up every such situation literally on the same day," the minister said, adding that on behalf of the president, all decisions have been made to deliver the necessary goods on time.
In early September, Chekunkov told RIA Novosti that the loading of Far Eastern ports with containers with imported goods sometimes exceeds 100%, which slows down the speed of unloading ships and their further loading with containers for export.
Earlier on Friday in Tashkent, Chekunkov gave a lecture on the development of the Far East at the MGIMO branch.
