OREANDA-NEWS. The number of confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by coronavirus 2019-nCoV on Tuesday amounted to more than 20.4 thousand in China. According to the State Health Committee, the number of deaths increased to 425.

With regard to more than 23.2 thousand inhabitants of the country, doctors suspect infection with a new coronavirus. To date, a total of 632 people have been discharged from hospitals. The number of cases in China compared with the past day increased by 3.2 thousand people, and the number of deaths by 64. The condition of almost 2.8 thousand patients is assessed as serious. Another 171.3 thousand inhabitants are in quarantine.

According to the latest data, more than half of the infected (13.5 thousand cases, including 414 deaths) are in the Hubei province, whose administrative center - the city of Wuhan - is the original focus of the epidemic. Over the past day, 2345 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the province, 64 people died. This indicator is followed by the provinces of Guangdong 725 (infected), Zhejiang (724), Henan (566), Hunan (521) and Anhui (408). In Beijing, 212 cases of pneumonia were confirmed; in Shanghai, this diagnosis was made to 203 residents.
