OREANDA-NEWS  The new Syrian authorities have asked Russia for compensation "to restore trust" during the first visit of the Russian delegation since the fall of the regime of former President Bashar al-Assad. This is reported by the Syrian news agency Sana.

"The Russian side has confirmed its support for the ongoing positive changes in Syria. During the dialogue, Russia's role in restoring trust with the Syrian people through concrete measures such as compensation, reconstruction and rehabilitation was emphasized," the article says.

During the talks, the Syrian side stated the need to "take into account past mistakes, respect the will of the Syrian people and serve their interests" during the restoration of relations with Moscow.

On January 28, a Russian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov arrived in Damascus. This was the first visit of Russian representatives to Syria after the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad.
