OREANDA-NEWS The Ukrainian national team has withdrawn from the multi-day ski race "Tour de Ski". This is reported by Dagbladet.

On January 1, not a single Ukrainian athlete started the fourth stage of the pursuit race. Michal Lamplot, race director of the International Ski Federation (FIS), said he did not know anything about the incident.

Later, the situation was clarified by the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Alexander Putsko. According to him, the team refused to participate in the Tour de Ski because they wanted to change the competition plan. "It was the coach's choice. Now we will focus on the Junior World Championship and the remaining stages of the World Cup," he said.

Russians do not participate in international ski tournaments due to FIS sanctions. The restrictions were first imposed in March 2022 and remain in effect until now.
