OREANDA-NEWS. The refusal to provide accreditation for the Global Conference on Freedom of the Media in the UK to the Sputnik news agency and the RT channel is a gross interference by the executive branch of the United Kingdom in the press.

During the day, the leadership of the United Kingdom must provide specific facts confirming that the TV channels RT and the agency Sputnik provided misinforming information on their pages. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova.

RT and Sputnik were previously denied accreditation to the Global Media Freedom Conference. It should be held in London on July 10-11.

 There can be no serious discussion of press freedom at the global conference, which opens in the capital of Great Britain on July 10.  This opinion was expressed by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the refusal of the authorities of the United Kingdom to accredit the Russian television channel RT and the news agency Sputnik to this event.
