OREANDA-NEWS. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said whether the Kremlin is monitoring the movements of the former leader of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and whether he is considered guilty of treason.

“We don’t follow this, he is one of the opponents of [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky, but it’s not a question for us to follow closely. Now it is not easy for Zelensky’s political opponents in Ukraine, we fix this, ”Peskov said.

On January 17, Poroshenko arrived in Kiev via Poland on a Wizz Air plane. He has to come to court in a treason case.

Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) confirmed that Poroshenko ignored an attempt to serve him a subpoena at the Kiev airport.

Investigators suspect the ex-president of Ukraine of treason due to the purchase of coal from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in 2014-2015. According to Ukrainian law, these formations are recognized as terrorist organizations, so Poroshenko's interaction with the self-proclaimed republics is regarded as financing of terrorism. At the same time, the politician himself said that he would answer all the charges against him when he returned to Ukraine.
