OREANDA-NEWS IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi announced that he will go to the Kursk nuclear power plant on Tuesday.

"Due to the serious situation, I will personally lead the IAEA mission to the Kursk nuclear power plant in Russia tomorrow," he wrote on social media on Monday.

Grossi noted that it is important for the IAEA to independently assess the situation.

"If the international community needs an independent safety assessment at a nuclear facility, then we are going there. The only way the IAEA can confirm this or that information is to conduct an independent independent assessment of what is happening," Grossi said in a statement.

He noted that during the visit to the NPP he would discuss "the conditions for further activities that are necessary to assess the nuclear safety conditions of the Kursk NPP."

The head of the IAEA also reiterated that under no circumstances should nuclear facilities be threatened.
