OREANDA-NEWS Tural Mammadov, the internationally wanted head of a gang that beat passers—by in St. Petersburg, was detained in Azerbaijan, Kommersant newspaper reported with reference to the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Northern capital Vagif Mamishev.

According to him, Mammadov will be extradited to Russia after all procedural issues have been settled.

"He was arrested. He is in the police. You have to understand that there is a procedure. No one can give a person away so easily on a call. There is already a request for extradition, and it has been approved," Mamishev said.

At the moment, the official bodies of the Russian Federation have not yet confirmed this information.
