OREANDA-NEWS South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol said that cooperation between Russia and North Korea in various fields has led to a need for closer cooperation between South Korea and European Union countries.
"The military and economic cooperation between Russia and the DPRK has emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with European countries like the Czech Republic," said Yun Seok-el, as reported by Reuters.
According to Reuters, Yun Seok-el also mentioned that he would discuss possible "joint responses" with Czech authorities regarding the DPRK's missile program and the alleged increase in military cooperation between North Korea and Russia.
As stated in the Russian Federation, the document complies with all norms of international law and is not directed against third countries.
The fourth article of this treaty states that if one of the parties becomes the victim of an armed attack from any State or group of States and finds itself in a state of war, the other party shall immediately provide military and other assistance using all means available, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and the laws of the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Furthermore, according to Article 8, the parties will establish mechanisms for joint actions to enhance their defense capabilities in order to prevent war and ensure regional and international peace and security.
The Kremlin has stated that military-technical cooperation is a sensitive area, but Moscow and Pyongyang intend to develop relations in all fields. We can discuss both military cooperation and exchange of views on urgent issues in the security field, but these matters should not become the subject of public disclosure or announcement, the Kremlin emphasized.
Earlier, the Russian Federation informed the South Korean side that within the framework of cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Moscow acts as a responsible member of the international community and intends to further develop relations with DPRK in all areas for the benefit of both countries and regional peace and stability. At the same time, Russia attaches importance to the situation on the Korean Peninsula and sees the need for various measures to help de-escalate tensions.
