OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Health of Belarus announced on Friday the detection of the first case of a new type of coronavirus in the country. He was discovered by a citizen of Iran.

“The first imported case of coronavirus was registered in Belarus. We inform you that on February 27 tests conducted at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology revealed one of the students from Iran, 2019, nCoV coronavirus”, the statement said on the website of the department.

The sick person arrived on the territory of the republic with a flight from Baku on February 22. “The patient and the persons in contact with him were placed in closed boxes in the Minsk Infectious Diseases Hospital. The young man feels satisfactory”, the Ministry of Health added.

The outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of December 2019 in the most populous city of Central China - the 12 millionth Wuhan. The World Health Organization recognized it as an emergency of international proportions, describing it as an epidemic with many foci. In addition to China, cases of infection were detected in 50 countries, including Russia.
