OREANDA-NEWS. US sanctions against the DPR and LPR have no meaning for the inhabitants of these regions, people are concerned about the safety of their lives and infrastructure, says Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, a representative of the US administration during a briefing said that US President Joe Biden on Tuesday issued a decree that prohibits individuals and legal entities of the United States from new investments in the so-called DPR and LPR region, trade with it and financing it. The decree also gives the authority to impose sanctions against any person who operates in these areas of Ukraine.

"US sanctions against the DPR and LPR have absolutely no meaning, these are decorative sanctions. I think that the least of all residents of the DNI and LPR keep their funds in American banks and dream of visas to the USA," Bezpalko told RIA Novosti.

The interlocutor of the agency added that now the residents of these republics are worried about something completely different.

“Yesterday, I was informed from Gorlovka with great joy that during the president’s address to the nation, the shelling of the city had stopped. This is what really worries the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics. Protecting not only lives, but also from the destruction of infrastructure. the city of water. People do not have basic conditions for survival - this worries them. Least of all they are worried about the sanctions from the United States of America, "the expert explained.

According to him, American sanctions against the DPR and LPR can be compared with measures against Crimea. "This is about the same as the sanctions against Crimea. Maybe they will be some slight inconvenience, but, for example, when I was in Crimea, I did not experience any inconvenience - neither in banks, nor in any other area. Absolutely," Bezpalko said.
