OREANDA-NEWS  We need to think about whether Hungary should remain on the list of EU member states if its ideas differ too much from the values of unification. This opinion was expressed by Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen at a briefing following the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, TASS reports.

"It is unacceptable for Hungary to present itself as an EU representative or to make such an impression while traveling, for example, in Moscow and Beijing. An individual country can express its own views, but not the presidency of the EU," the head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry stressed.

On July 5, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited Moscow. After that, Germany said that by doing so he had caused damage to the European Union, which was trying to show unity on the Ukrainian issue.

The EU called Orban's trips to Russia and China unacceptable, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel called for a discussion "what to do with Hungary's presidency of the EU Council in the next few months." Budapest also said that Brussels criticizes Orban's peace initiative on Ukraine out of envy.
