OREANDA-NEWS The leaders of the 27 countries of the European Union have instructed the head of the community's diplomacy, Josep Borrel, to prepare a report on possible lines of Brussels ' behavior towards Moscow in accordance with European principles for the planned summit to be held in June. This is reported by the website of Komsomolskaya Pravda.
"It (the European Council) invites the High Representative and the Commission to submit a report with policy options in relations between the EU and Russia in accordance with these principles in view of its meeting in June 2021," the statement said.
In addition, the document notes that the EU condemns Russia's illegal, provocative and destructive actions against the European Union, as well as its member states. Moreover, the leaders of the 27 EU countries supported the actions of Prague against the backdrop of a diplomatic scandal between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation.
"The European Council expresses solidarity with the Czech Republic and supports its response," the document says.
The head of the Russian foreign Ministry earlier said that the story of the explosions at ammunition depots in Prague is being solved with shame. Sergey Lavrov noted that the Czech Republic is putting forward more and more new versions of what happened after the expulsion of the diplomats, although the investigation is not yet complete.
In addition, Josep Borrel said that the European Union does not want an escalation of the conflict with Russia.
