OREANDA-NEWS Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Roman Kostenko called for lowering the mobilization age in the country to 20 years in an interview with the publication Ukrainska Pravda.

"We really have a problem that the category of people who are currently being drafted into the army is quite old. (...) I think we should have a draft age from 20 to 50. Everything that comes next can be mobilized at will, but not into combat units," the MP said.

According to him, lowering the mobilization age is necessary to provide units with healthy people who could carry out combat missions.

Previously, the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Igor Romanenko called for increased mobilization in the country. He added that the conflict with Russia would be long and difficult for Ukraine, and mobilization measures should be vigorous in order to accumulate the necessary resources.
