The cost of Christmas decorations in Russia has soared

By now, the cost of the above-mentioned holiday attributes has reached 157 rubles per piece. Sparklers also demonstrated high growth rates. Their average cost in 2024 increased by 29 percent, to 159 rubles.
Against the background of a significant increase in prices, demand for Christmas toys and balloons in Russia fell by 16 percent, while interest in sparklers decreased by 8 percent. Overall, average prices for New Year's goods increased by 21 percent in 2024. Daria Zhigalina, an analyst at the company, attributed this trend, among other things, to the rising cost of raw materials. "Imported materials are used in production," the expert concluded.
Earlier, analysts at the Check Index resource of the OFD Platform reported that in 2024, decorating a festive tree would cost Russians an average of 4,188 rubles. Such costs will increase by 15 percent compared to last year. In 12 months, the cost of garlands has increased to 604 rubles. In turn, tinsel rose in price by 11 percent to 143 rubles during the reporting period. The most significant increase in prices was demonstrated by sets of Christmas tree toys (plus 16 percent, up to 753 rubles).
